At Your Service

Families Acting for Innocent Relatives has provided bespoke services for victims for over a quarter of a century. In that time we have helped thousands of victims many with complex and challenging needs. We strive to provide a tailored service which treats everyone as an individual and helps them on their journey to recovery and restoration.

In our 25 years of service we have developed and sourced a range of services which  provide practical support and care for the bereaved and injured.

As a membership led group we focus on the needs of the individual and take the time to listen to them and ensure that the service we provide is particular to their needs. Those needs are often individual and develop over time. They reflect where the person is in their own lives and journey. This means that a ‘one size fits all’ approach cannot be applied. We not only work with victims but walk with them every step of the way.

For some its is a desire for truth and justice which motivates them. Their future depends on how we can help them deal with the past. This means providing advocacy and legal support as they navigate the often complicated and frustrating criminal justice system. For others it is a desire to be heard, to tell their story and to have the space and support to process the trauma of the past. As many of our members are older the services they require focus on addressing the loss they suffered. Loneliness, the loss of a loved one and the practical needs that creates in life are the main issues.

Here to Help

Have you or someone you know been affected by an act of terrorism?

Do you still suffer as a result of your experience and find it hard to find people to to listen and help?
Our support services are designed by victims for victims and offer free practical and emotional support to individuals and families affected by a terrorist incident.

This service is free and confidential and available to all people in the United Kingdom who have experienced terrorism as a result of the Northern Ireland Troubles as a direct victim, survivor, or direct witness, or within immediate family or friendship group.

It offers access to a network of specialist services and tailored support with events and specialised interventions that bring together people with shared experiences to support each other.

As a victims support group we have all been where you are now. We have experienced terrorism and unite people from all walks of life who have been through similar circumstances and are all on a journey to deal with the past and build a better future.

We meet each victim at the point of need and assess just what they require. Many services can be provided in-house or are delivered by our network of trusted providers. We will work with you and walk with you every step of the way.

Our service includes:

  • Access to one to one and other facilitated discussions about the impact of the past, a befriending service which will assess your needs
  • Group activities which bring people together to hep and support one another.
  • Regular updates on support and services which we provide or sign-post to.
  • A calendar of events from talks to trips away which will help you build confidence and skills.

The Aims

  • The primary aim is to help people cope and, where possible, recover
  • The secondary aim is to help people connect with others who have similar shared experiences; and to understand their own experience within a context that introduces ideas and approaches that others have found helpful, and reassures them they are not alone in how they are feeling
